New York Yankees remind me of the old Toronto Maple Leafs

(L-R) Alex Rodriguez #13, Eduardo Nunez #26, Robinson Cano #24 and Mark Teixeira #25 of the New York Yankees look on from the dugout late in the game against the Detroit Tigers during game four of the American League Championship Series at Comerica Park on October 18, 2012 in Detroit, Michigan.

Hey Leaf fans remember the good old days.  Sign a bunch of expensive free agents. Make dumb trades sending away picks and prospects for the chance at winning the Cup but running out of gas in the playoffs when the old guys broke down.  Too many bad contracts.

The lockout and salary cap put an end to that nonsense.  But the philosophy is alive and well in New York.  Yup  those Yankees love free agents and money and term are never barriers.  The Leafs signed Darcy Tucker and Bryan McCabe to awful free agent contracts.  The Yankees can top that with Alex Rodriguez, A.J. Burnett, Carl Pavano, the list goes on and on.  If C.C. Sabathia contract will turn bad on them.  In the post-steroid era careers will be shorter.  Hitters will lose their power earlier and pitchers will lose a few miles off their fastball.

Funny how that Yankee lineup looked so good a few months ago and now is in shambles.  Other than Cano is their anyone you would be dying to pick up.  As one of many Yankee haters it was just so fun to watch.
