His home down a sewer in eastern China was hardly luxurious, but this beggar staged a two hour protest when police tried to flush him out.
Passers by in Dalian, Liaoning province, called authorities when they heard singing coming from a drain and spotted the man sitting underneath the grill.
"He refused to budge. He kept saying it was his home. The smell is terrible but it's a lot warmer down there than it is on the surface," said one officer.
Police say the 43-year-old man is now recovering in a local hospital.
Saw the movie In Darkness two weeks ago and living in a sewer is not something I would do voluntarily.
